Red Stag 350 - 400+ Bow Hunting Package

Red Stag: You can expect to harvest a red stag between 350-400+ SCI score   From the Outfitter: Having guided bow hunters for over 30 years we are the only longstanding New Zealand outfitter that has a bow season and just like America you get to hunt before the rifle hunters and in the full rut or stag roar as we call it.

Additional Game: In addition to red stag at the same time you can bow hunt Elk, NZ Wapiti, Fallow, Ram, Goat and Boar plus rifle hunt for high alpine tahr and chamois.

Hunting: This hunt starts March 1st and if you do not want to bring your bow than we have a number of cross bows available for your use at no charge. It is mostly spot and stalk that can include calling to locate game we also set up ambushes on main trails and or use natural cover over a wallow or bedding area therefore your average shot is between 20 and 40 yards.

Bow Hunting Area: is 1500ac high fenced that has both open and timbered mountain valleys rising up to just 1200ft and although there are number of two tracks through the area most hunting is done on foot. Sometimes in our main bow hunting area we set up portable tree stands or ground blinds plus we have two permanent stands that we use from time to time.

Access: Is by 4x4 vehicle that provides you with good access to most of the ranch during the hunt by way of some safe 4x4 roads up the mountain. However, not all roads can be used after heavy rain or snow.

Accommodation: About a 2 1/2 hour drive from Christchurch airport is our Ranch House which caters for up to six guests at any one time. You have access to a washer/dryer and there is WiFi along with some cell service, these are between 5 and 25 minutes away from all our prime hunting areas.
